Privacy Policy
Effective: May 12, 2026 · Version 1.0
Bliss Living Inc. ("Bliss Living," "we," "us") runs blissliving.com. This page explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can control it. Where the law gives you specific rights — California residents especially — those are spelled out below.
The short version
We collect the minimum we need to run a recommendation site that learns what's working. That includes your email if you sign up for the newsletter, a small set of analytics data when you visit, and some information your browser sends automatically. We do not sell your information. We share limited data with a small number of service providers (newsletter, analytics, hosting) so they can do their jobs. Everything else in this document is detail.
What we collect
The categories of personal information we may collect:
- Identifiers — name (if you provide it), email address, IP address, device identifiers.
- Internet activity — pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, referring URL, browser type, operating system, general location inferred from IP (city/region level).
- Inferences — categories you've shown interest in (e.g., "tends to browse Better Sleep"), so we can prioritize what you see when you return.
- Commercial information — affiliate click data shared with us by Amazon Associates or Skimlinks (anonymous aggregate counts, never your individual purchase history).
We do not collect: government IDs, financial account numbers, biometric data, health information, precise geolocation, or sensitive categories under California law.
How we collect it
Three sources:
- Directly from you — when you sign up for the newsletter or write to us at one of our email addresses.
- Automatically — when you visit the site, your browser sends standard information (IP, user agent, etc.). We use small amounts of localStorage in your browser to remember whether you've visited before, so we can greet returning visitors with what's new. This information stays in your browser. We do not transmit it to a server. If you clear your browser data, it's gone — and we treat you as a new visitor next time.
- From service providers — our newsletter platform, analytics provider, and affiliate networks share data with us as listed in the "Who we share it with" section.
How we use it
We use this information to:
- Send you the newsletter you signed up for.
- Understand which finds resonate with readers so the curation system can improve.
- Recognize returning visitors and surface what's new since their last visit.
- Detect abuse, bots, and security threats.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Communicate with you when you write to us.
We do not use this information to build advertising profiles about you or to share with ad networks for retargeting.
Who we share it with
We share limited information with the following categories of third parties:
- Email service provider — to send the newsletter. They store your email address and basic engagement data (opened, clicked, unsubscribed).
- Analytics provider — to count visits and understand which pages get traffic. We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not build cross-site advertising profiles.
- Affiliate networks — Amazon Associates and Skimlinks track when you click an affiliate link from our site to theirs, so they can credit us for the referral. This is governed by the affiliate network's privacy policy, not ours, once you leave our site.
- Hosting provider — our web host stores server logs (IP, requested URL, timestamp) for security and operational purposes.
- Legal authorities — if compelled by valid legal process. We will challenge over-broad requests where appropriate.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you exercise your right to opt out (see California Rights below), we will not share even the limited categories listed above where the law permits us to honor that request.
How long we keep it
The defaults:
- Newsletter subscriber data — until you unsubscribe, plus 90 days for our records, after which it is deleted.
- Server logs — 90 days, then deleted or aggregated.
- Analytics data — 14 months, then aggregated.
- Localstorage data in your browser — until you clear your browser data or 12 months of inactivity (whichever comes first).
- Correspondence — emails you send us are retained while the matter is active, plus a reasonable archive period.
Where the law requires longer retention (tax records, for example), we keep what we must, for as long as we must.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of technologies to recognize repeat visitors and operate the site:
- Strictly necessary cookies — used by our hosting platform and security tooling. These cannot be disabled because the site needs them to work.
- Functional storage — we use browser
localStorageto remember when you last visited so we can show what's new. This is set by our site, stays in your browser, and is not transmitted to us. - Analytics — our analytics provider may set a first-party cookie or use cookieless tracking to count visits. Aggregated, never sold.
- Affiliate tracking — when you click a link to a merchant, that merchant may set their own tracking cookies. Those are governed by the merchant's policy.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not break the site but may reset our memory of your past visits.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is currently no industry standard for how sites must respond to it, so we treat DNT as informational only — we do not change behavior based on it. Our default behavior already declines to use third-party advertising trackers regardless of the DNT signal.
For the new Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which has a clearer legal status in California, we honor it as an opt-out request under the CCPA where applicable. See "Do Not Sell or Share" below.
Your California rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by CPRA) gives you the following rights. Bliss Living is currently below the CCPA's enforcement threshold, but we have chosen to honor these rights regardless:
- Right to know — what categories of personal information we have collected about you, where we got it, why, and who we shared it with.
- Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out — opt out of any "selling" or "sharing" of personal information.
- Right to limit — limit the use of sensitive personal information. (We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA.)
- Right to non-discrimination — exercising any of the above will not result in worse treatment, denied service, or different pricing.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@blissliving.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." We will verify your request, fulfill it within 45 days where required, and confirm in writing when complete.
Categories of sources from which we collected personal information in the last 12 months: directly from you, automatically from your device, and from our service providers and affiliate networks.
Business or commercial purposes for collecting personal information: operating the site, delivering the newsletter, understanding readership, preventing abuse, fulfilling legal obligations, and communicating with you.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. Under California's broader definition, "sharing" can include certain analytics arrangements. To request that we not share your information beyond the operational disclosures listed above:
- Email privacy@blissliving.com with subject "Do Not Sell or Share."
- Or send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from a supported browser. We will honor it automatically.
We will not require you to create an account to opt out.
California Shine the Light (§ 1798.83)
California residents may request, once per year and at no charge, a list of the categories of personal information we disclosed to third parties for those third parties' direct marketing purposes during the prior calendar year. Bliss Living does not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If this changes, we will update this section and provide the disclosures required by law. To submit a Shine the Light request anyway, email privacy@blissliving.com.
Children under 16
Bliss Living is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, write to privacy@blissliving.com and we will promptly delete it.
We do not sell or share personal information of minors under 16 as defined under the CCPA, in any case.
